Here’s what homebuyers should know about the market in 2022.
Did you hope to buy a home in 2021 but felt you were outpriced by the market or got outbid one too many times? Today I’ll discuss where the home-buying market is going in 2022 and give you an idea of what your prospects are like this year.
So many buyers were discouraged last year after dealing with multiple-offer situations on nearly every listing. Many felt completely overwhelmed with the whole process.
Being a homebuyer in 2022 looks much like it did in 2021. I had plenty of clients get discouraged last year, but I also had plenty of clients persevere through the disappointment. All of them were glad that they did. Those homeowners have already seen 10% to 15% appreciation in the past year alone.
We still have low inventory, so we’re going to be seeing strong competition for nearly every home. That means you’ll need to make an offer above list price, increase your down payment, and have excellent credit.
“Homeowners who persevered in 2021 have already been rewarded.”
If you work with an aggressive agent who looks out for your best interests, this is still a good time to be a buyer. Prices aren’t going to go down here in Charlotte anytime soon. You can be confident that the home you buy today will appreciate in value over the coming years.
It’s still a good time to sell while demand is this high. You can even use your leverage as a seller to make your home-buying journey a little easier as well.
If you have any questions for me about buying a home, selling a home, or anything else related to real estate, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
